How Often Should You Get Professional Family Portraits?

When it comes to professional family portraits, a common question is how often I should get them? Well, it depends on a lot of things! Family photos are something to be cherished, heirloom artwork to be enjoyed for generations. Getting photos regularly while your children are still young is so important, because it gives you so much to look back on.

A Photographer’s Recommendation

In the first year of a child’s life, I recommend getting photos for big milestones: maternity, newborn, six month and one year. I offer packages to book all of these sessions in my First Year Collective! Once you’re past the first year, getting portraits done can become a little more relaxed. I often tell families that getting family portraits at least once a year is a good rule of thumb.

If you have a few kiddos, it won’t be too stressful to get everyone together for one session annually. Booking a session ensures that you’ll have so many images to choose from in the final gallery. You can update your customized gallery wall with new images while adding even more memories to your photo album.

Of course, each of your little ones deserves their own sessions of celebration. For the big milestones, like six months and one year, I always think it’s worth it to get a session where the focus is on them! The Four Arts in West Palm Beach is one of the most gorgeous places in our area. I adore taking families there for big life moments to cherish your little one’s growth. It’s so special to be able to see just how much they’re developing and becoming their own little person.
