When it comes to your second trimester, I know that it can be hard to feel like yourself. In my West Palm maternity photography studio, I find that pampering mamas and making them feel their most confident is an amazing gift. I wanted to provide a list of five things you can do during this time in your pregnancy so you still feel like you.
After making it through your first trimester, you’ll have regularly scheduled prenatal appointments with your doctor, OBGYN or midwife. It’s incredibly important that you make it to each appointment! This is a key stage in your pregnancy, and you don’t want to miss any opportunity for new information. The health of your baby is everything.
The second trimester is the recommended time to get maternity photos, since your bump is showing but you’re not at the stage in your pregnancy where it’s a little harder to get around. Scheduling your newborn session around the same time is a good idea just to have it on the books. Once your little one arrives, everything is going to be a blur. Trust me, you’ll be thankful to your past self for scheduling that session!
In a previous blog post, I talked all about curating a stunning and tranquil space for your newborn. Designing a nursery can be one of those things on your to-do list that creeps up on you, so it’s best to get it done while you have the time and energy! It’s also good to order any furniture or decor ahead of time since there are a lot of delays with home furnishings these days.
It sounds simple enough, but doing small acts of kindness for yourself really boosts your spirits, especially when pregnancy hormones are running rampant. Going to prenatal yoga or exercise classes to have a sense of community can be amazing. Getting a prenatal massage or facial experience can be wonderful for your mind and body. Treat yourself, mama!
The moment you go into labor, your mind can go in all different directions. It’s so important that you have a plan in place before you get to those first moments of labor. Even if things don’t go totally according to plan (which they rarely do), having a birth plan in place is amazing for a calm peace of mind. Make sure you have your hospital bag packed and everything you need ready to go and welcome your little one into the world and your family. Have your doctor or midwife on the same page as you when it comes to your treatment plan and your wishes. You got this!
