Why I Love Six Month Sitter Sessions | Milestone Photography

Milestone photography is a beautiful way to celebrate your child at every stage of their lives. I love working with mamas all the way from womb to world– it’s full of milestones worth cherishing! From maternity to newborn, and then sitting to standing, being able to look back at your child’s growth and journey is a truly magical thing. 

As a maternity and newborn photographer, of course I understand that photographing those moments are incredibly important. I love working with mamas, celebrating them, and being there soon after their child has come into the world. But why should it have to stop there? Six month sitter sessions are so special, as your child has grown so much and started to become a little person! I wanted to talk about why I love six month milestone sessions, and why you should book them. 

1. To Document Their Growth

This might seem a little obvious, but it’s completely true! It’s unbelievable how much your baby changes in the six months after they’re born. Six month sitter sessions allow you to truly marvel at how much your little one has transformed and started to blossom into their own tiny person. I typically recommend dressing them simply so that we can get all the details. Plus, you get to be so playful together as a family in the studio!

2. All Those Precious Rolls

Newborns are beautiful and precious, but a six month-old baby has all those rolls that are just too cute. During a sitter session in my studio, your baby has all the freedom to crawl and move around as they please. My baby-led sessions ensure that all their movement will be documented, so we get the best photos of their new plumpness. I focus on other little details too, like fingers and toes, to make sure all their preciousness is captured. 

3. Their Personality

At six months, your little one has begun to show even more of their blossoming personality. The sly smiles, the giggles, and curiosity is all coming through, and I want to document every bit of it. In addition to crawling, your child has gained so many more motor-skills like grabbing and pulling themselves up! In my studio and in the garden, your little one can play around as they please, giving so many beautiful moments for me to document.
